ABOUT

Daytime TV explores identity in relation to the media we consume, more precisely how the conditions of 21st-century Britain inform what is broadcast and its intended effects on the masses. Through the process of producing satirized television advertisements and programming, we aim to illuminate a variety of media tropes, advertising techniques, and British staples that we find interesting or want to criticize.

The ultimate goal of the process is to create a pseudo-Britain that adopts many of the characteristics we are familiar with whilst stretching or morphing others to create a surreal, stylised and somewhat unsettling interpretation of the Daytime TV we grew up on.

Sam Wilkinson

Sam is a multifaceted moving image artist who has worked on many plot-driven films in the past. This project, in particular, provides him with a chance to explore filmmaking outside the confines of conventional documentary or narrative forms. He is interested in social commentary through comedic devices, alongside interactive elements within moving image installation.

Torol takes an interest in many of the technical aspects of filmmaking namely practical effects and production design where he employs a keen eye for detail. What drew him to this project initially was the early 2000s tv aesthetic which provided an interesting challenge both in the equipment used and editing style.
